Hi “Music Remyx” fans! I’ve been doing a lot of thinking ever since the demise of the other “music rewind” hosted by Marcus Couch and other podcasters, including myself. Bare with me here, I have a lot to say which is against my nature to NOT be supportive of a great effort! Here goes: after listening to Music Remyx #4 I find myself no better able to decide whether or not I like a particular podcast. Unlike the British vidcast, “Podfinder UK” where I learn something about the music presenter’s style or show’s format, Music Remyx just samples the particular podcaster’s voice and one track, which if is the only genre of music on that show is OK, and I’ll know what to expect. However if on the other hand the genres are “mixed” like on my own show, this one sample track tells me absolutely nothing about that show. Therefore, if seems to me, these type of “remix” podcasts should be delving a bit more into who the presenter is. This being just my opinion takes nothing away from the first 4 episodes of Remyx, which have been done well, but I think lacks any value, other than hearing the presenter’s voice. His name and podcast name can just as easily be gotten from a printed list of available podcasts?
Anyway, perhaps this explains why my first submission to this effort, focused more on the various ingredients of my particular show, and perhaps why it got ignored?, with no courteous email reply as to why! I hope everyone understands my point here and why one regular host on these shows, like Marcus was, helps to bring the show from merely a self-promotion to more of a show, whose host is familiar with who and what he is presenting!
Thanks for taking time to hear my rant! Feedback? Please send to ed@edsmixedbag.com Your opinion counts and will be a welcome discussion.
